Knee Pain Physio Springfield

Stairs hurt. Squats stall. It swells after a walk. That’s not “just age”.

Knee pain is usually a load problem. The joint is where the bill lands. The driver is often the foot, hip, how you walk, or how you train.

Rubbing the kneecap and handing over quads-on-a-stepper doesn’t change that.

Drop-In Physio maps how your knee is being loaded, then gives you a plan that still works when you leave.

Want to train smarter, recover quicker and hit your next goal?

Let's work together. Book your sports physiotherapy session today.

Who this is for

  • Pain at the front of the knee (kneecap / stairs / sitting)

  • Pain inside or outside the joint after walking, running or sport

  • Swelling, clicking, giving way, or stiffness after sitting

  • Pain that started after a twist, landing, or a jump in training load

  • Recurring “niggle” that flares every time you try to get fit

  • WorkCover, CTP or DVA knee claims (no gap where covered)

  • Springfield Central, Springfield Lakes, Augustine Heights, Brookwater, Ripley, Ipswich corridor — clinic or mobile

Red flags first: locked knee that won’t straighten, sudden big swelling after a pop, hot red joint with fever. Get medical review before physio.

What usually drives it (and gets missed)

The knee rarely fails in isolation.

  • Foot collapse or stiff ankle dumping rotation into the knee

  • Weak or poorly timed hip control

  • Gait that overstrides or slaps load into the joint

  • Quad / tendon overload from sitting + sudden training

  • Old sprain that was never loaded properly again

  • Swelling that taught you to limp — then the limp became the problem

We test which of those is yours. Treatment follows that.

Our approach

Biomechanics-first assessment. Education. Progressive loading. Hands-on only when it speeds the next step.

You leave knowing: what’s irritated, what to stop doing, what to load, and how hard.

Goal is fewer flare-ups and less reliance on appointments — same as the rest of the clinic.

What to expect

Initial session

History, swelling/irritability, squat/step/lunge, hip and foot control, gait. Clear explanation of the main driver.

Plan

Calm the flare if it’s hot. Then capacity: strength, control, walking or running load. Exercises that fit work and life, not a 14-exercise sheet.

Progress

Pain on stairs, walking distance, squat depth, sport minutes. Change the plan when it stalls.

Clinic: TotalFusion Lions Springfield, 16 Eden Station Drive, Springfield Central.

Mobile if travel is the problem.

Initial $200. 45-min follow-up $155. 30-min $105. WorkCover / DVA / CTP / NDIS no gap where eligible.

Why this beats “rest and ice”

Rest drops pain. It also drops capacity. Then you return at the same load and it comes back.

Lasting change is how the knee is loaded — foot, hip, gait, training. That’s the gap most previous physio left.

Common questions

Do I need a scan?

Usually no. Scan if locking, true instability after a pop, or you’re not changing after a proper plan.

Is it arthritis?

Wear on a scan is common and often not the full story. Irritable joints still respond to better load and control.

Can I keep training?

Often yes, with the right dose. Total shutdown usually makes the return worse.

Runner / gym / netball / work on feet?

Yes. The plan is built around the demand that keeps flaring it.

WorkCover / CTP?

Yes. Reports included. No gap when the claim is accepted.
